Hip replacement

Well it has been 10 days now and I feel like a cooped up wild animal.  No driving for 6 weeks will probably not happen. The meds are great I must say.  That's it for now.  Right hip replacement with posterior procedure.  Have a great Oct. people.  See some of you at SGIA.

Good for you Sonny! I understand that they have really got this down now. I, frankly, was surprised to hear that recovery for a hip is shorter than for a knee.

And btw, not to bum you out, but two of our German Shepherds had hip replacements, and though they seemingly recovered better than new, neither ever drove after the procedure.

Wow I am sorry to hear that.  My dogs don't drive either.   On a side note I was told I would be able to play the saxophone.  I still can not

just starting with my hip, out of the blue. Prednisone for inflammation to start... good luck Sonny, hope you recover quickly.

I had my right hip replaced earlier this year.... I would encourage people to check into the anterior replacement if they are a candidate for surgery.
Because there are no large muscles cut... the downtime is 4 weeks and there are very few post surgery restrictions.

Listening to the docs and following your PT is key to making a 110% recovery.

Don't push yourself on your own too fast, but at the same time don't go too light in PT and your exercises.

Sonny only ever operates at 50% anyway, so he really doesn't have far to go.

I thought you said you would keep that to yourself.  Half full is "full" half the time
