Comfort Colors (Gildan) shutting down New England facilites

Moving to Eden, NC. Probably won't affect most unless you custom dye; just an FYI

Thanks for the heads up.  I hate printing on those shirts.  The last time we printed the Hemp color my hands turned green from the dye on the shirt.  Also some of them have the weird smell of Kentucky Fried Chicken when ran through the dryer and smoke heavily when cured.  I still don't know why the youth and college market love theses.

wow, they've been in Vermont forever (Chouinard). I like the shirts, but the twist they get in them make for a lot of discussion on getting the prints to look straight...

Its a Gildan thing. Newer and more modern facility. Eden is remote rural SC w/cheap land and labor. Miller Brewing plant shutting down next year. Employees aplenty to choose from. And obviously good access to water via the Dan River

Consumers demand cheaper and cheaper.....And we still get upset at politicians about no jobs and jobs that do not pay a "living wage".....

A lot of jobs aren't worth a living wage. The $15.00 per hour idea will kill tons of jobs. The idiots demanding that have no idea what they are asking for or what the consequences are. If someone wants more pay, they need to be more valuable. If they aren't, then the people who are more valuable will get the job instead. Politicians don't create jobs, people do. You start a shop in your basement or garage, and after a while you need more room to work in, and help because you can't possibly get it all done. That's how jobs are created; the bloodsuckers have nothing to do with it, except impeding progress.

+1 on the Sanmar knock offs.  Their ring spin garment dyed tee is pretty nice too.

College kids love the comfort colors but the price really discourages them from choosing the brand. I just found sanmars style of pigment dyed shirts and they are equal in quality at half the cost. But not as many colors

Talking about Gildan, do they actually offer as well a quality t-shirt, not the rag the T-2000 is. I mean a nice well made garment. Do they have something like this in their regular line up?

No, but Gildan owns Anvil and Anvil has decent quality garments. I was surprised at how nice the 780 was compared to the 5000 or 64000
