WB white ink on top of a WHITE DC base?

Anyone done it? Is that normal? I know printing colors on top of DC white is problematic. But I'm trying to think of why a wb white opaque ink couldn't be printed on top of a 100% DC White base? I'm dealing with NL 6210 turquoise blend shirts thrown in with a larger run of charcoal 6210's that I'm doing DC white on. Thanks

it's my understanding, that the White DC, will not hold the ink on top of it, and it'll wash right off.

We print white water base on top of a 50/50 discharge base all the time. HSA white to be specific on top of a 50% clear discharge base / 50% white discharge base. Works beautifully. Many, many shirts printed this way and all of our clients love it. Very bright, and very smooth / soft

But we have never printed on top of a 100% white discharge base. No need to and that costs more anyway.

Cool. That's good to know. If I could clean out the 100% dc white and put in a 50/50 or lower mix added with a straght wb screen I'd be happy with that. Have you done wash tests with that combo? Do you flash the base? Thanks!

No, we have done thousands and thousands this way. Multiple jobs, multiple runs, multiple wash tests. I though this way common knowledge! When client wants "bling white" it is what we go for without fail. Of course our go to shirt is 100% Cotton Gildan 2000 or Gildan 5000 though. Works every time.

Just ran a job like this today. The 60/40 was killing us! We had 3 HSA whites and that worked, but there was a lot of VERY fine lines and some grew closed with 3 whites. Magna DC white as a base, Matsui white on top, came out great!

Started experimenting with DC today, what is the benefit of printing 50/50 with a WB white on top, compared to just a 100% white DC?  Trying to find this answer elsewhere in the forums with no luck

As your runs get longer and say you have 300 black blanks from country A and 500 from country B and 75 from country C they will discharge differently. The HSA on top being a very opaque ink will make them more uniform across the board.

That makes sense, but if i were doing just 50 shirts of same brand and country, would a straight Magna DC white be ok instead of mixing with a clear?

Just depends on your clients definition of what white is.
