And to drive him even madder, you may notice that I even moved one back as it definitely turned into a discussion.
That rug really tied the room together, did it not?

Just to add little insight into the way some/most people browse forums...I bookmarked the "Unread" link for this whole forum. So when I visit multiple times a day I see all the NEW threads. I don't drill down into sub-forums and sections. So I see ALL the new posts no matter which section they're in. So it doesn't matter if Frog moves a post to the correct spot to keep a tidy house. What's the big deal? Now all I see are a bunch of posts by Madartist showing a few designs and one blaring thread where he's complaining. Guess which one leaves the lasting impression?

To be fair, he doesn't call himself The Calm and Rational Artist. In time, it will all work out as it's evident that he will get some interest and talk going in the art section, which is what it's all about in the end.

I noticed this thread at the first couple of posts, but declined to weigh in. I just rolled my eyes and chalked it up to "youth". But since it hasn't gone away yet, I will say a couple of things.

I like how the mods do their job. There is sort of an "instinct" about such things that develops over time.

Time, being the operative word. You have to "do your time" before even making suggestions, much less sort of gauche tantrum.

Yesterday I had the overhead door open, and a white haired man just tottered right into my building needing to use the bathroom....VERY EARLY in the day. (WAAAAY before opening hours, I was working to catch up. He'd brought his pickup for servicing at my neighbor's business, but had the hours all wrong. They weren't even there yet, much less open.)  I escorted him in and showed him the bathroom nearest for this elderly fellow. He is my elder, and deserves the respect of his station. I'd never do it again, probably.

I was taught to respect my elders, police, teachers, pastors, leaders and authorities in general. I never boo-ed at a ball games, or argued with officials. I mourn that this element has all but vanished in our society. The chance of me needing "tased" of heaven forbid SHOT(!) to comply with a cop (whose wages I help pay) is within a rounding error of zero.

Your Original Post is evidence that you don't respect the guidelines of this forum. It is probably apparent in other areas. It's just common courtesy, and you lack it.

You probably are a WAAAAY better artist than I am. I'll stipulate that most of the shirts produced by this group of members are better than mine.

But you need to learn where you fit in. It isn't that hard. This post will likely wind this thread up in the cage, but I wish not. Pay your dues and learn some deporture. I welcome your contributions.

Cudos to Pierre, Andy and Dan on how they run this, my favorite place.

Stan

This post gave me flash backs

There is  a professional "artist" in a club I belong to. The club asked him to redesign the mascot / logo because the club wanted new tee shirts and the current logo was over 40 years old...
This "artist" is a well renown in his field and has sold his works for serious $'s he is very very good at what he does.

The mascot is just simple clip arty kind of stuff way below his skill and talent accomplishments. Given a clean slate the logo was recreated entirely different than before and I was going to print shirts for the gang.

When he presented the new design to the members they all accepted it and said it was great and it was sent to me along with the tee shirt order.

I immediately started getting calls / comments from the membership telling me the design was not that good and I was asked if I could do something / make some changes for the tee shirts .

All that I changed was the style and arrangement of the text, the actual image and design of the mascot, the artists true work was not changed or altered in any way except to print it in spot colors and half tones.

When the "artist" saw the shirts he went ballistic on me screaming and frothing at the mouth that "my art department had absolutely no right to alter his art!  He was absolutely livid.........IMHO it is the nature of this beast to believe EVERYTHING associated with their work is sacrosanct and not to be touched by the uneducated and unskilled........They really get pi$$ed off ::)

DUE TO CIRCUMSTANCES COMPLETELY WITHIN MY CONTROL YOU SHOULD GET YOUR OWN TEE SHIRT AND A SHARPIE MARKER BY NOON TOMORROW OR SIMPLY CALL SOMEONE WHO GIVES A SHIRT.

Logo design is pretty much entirely in the realm of graphic design and not fine art.  Having an artistic eye is always beneficial to a graphic designer, but there are so many aspects of logo design that having nothing to do with free range artistic creativity.  I wouldn't trust any random artist with designing branding...

I do the same. No biggie.

Love the forum and moderation just as it is. Hate the search function.

Bulldog, try site:theshirtboard.com bulldog or anything else after the space. That invokes google's robust search engine whenever the built-in search won't do. It works for most sites, but with some, ot returns the results in a graphics-less text only version.

For some of you that are new to this forum, themadartist is not a newbie, Frog , me and a few others know this cat from way back on an old forum.  Same guy same style nothing new, I think once that old forum when down hill a lot of the artist went to art forums and didn't come over, but are slowly moving here ;)
