Visitor this weekend
« on: July 06, 2015, 09:52:43 AM »
This what I get for living in the country side, just 3" from being 5ft long, I killed it just below our house and our neighbor's house, this the biggest rattle snake I've seen in a long time.

Good Grief Darryl!!

Where is your place? A 5 footer is a pretty good sized serpent.

Glad he didn't "bruise YOUR heel..."

My son finds them in North Central Oklahoma all the time, but I've only seen 1 (one) where I live in 61 years. (South Central Kansas)

I think this will be the thread of the WEEK!

Donnie should weigh in on this.

He's just a stone's throw from "THE Rattlesnake Roundup" in Oklahoma.  I wonder how big they get in the OK sand hills?  An Eastern Diamondback according to Wikipedia, (the UNERRING FINAL WORD on everything, since the beginning of time...) can exceed 7 feet!  YIKES!

Funny though...I don't have nightmares about snakes. I have them about spiders. Brown Recuse, to be specific.

Been bitten twice by those cursed spiders. (No fun) Wife got it once, on the thigh. Had a multi-colored leg for a few days and a lot of discomfort. If I had rattlesnakes in my attic or under my crawlspace, maybe my dreams would be inhabited by different vermin.

I believe they have one of those roundups in Coffee County.

Not positive, but I think most of the roundups are more on quantity over size.  I think the 'rounders' get most of the younger ones coming out of the winter dens.  The big-uns are usually a bit smarter to be found so easily.
