I have tried a couple of systems similar to this. These are cumbersome at best IMO. Stahls Transfer Express numbers are, to me, the simplest, most consitent way to get thru a numbering job.

Just did 110 jerseys last friday, only took about two hours. No cutting wor weeding. While one number is cooking, you're pulling the next one.
Thanks TSB gang!!

That's what I do to. It only sucks when you have to order them. I have like 1000 numbers but its never the right ones for the job or I need like 25 number twos. Now I just offer white and black numbers. I don't do numbers very often. I have a 24 shirt minimum so that keeps all the sports guys away.

I know, but we're so freaking busy right now that I don't have the time to screw around... I'd rather go and have a few drinks at the bar, work on the motorcycle or do anything other than hanging out in the shop for a weekend...

however, I may just look into it if I can figure out how much it would cost to have custom 'small' frames made.

We bought one of those...what a piece of junk.  Why don't you buy screen printed transfers from a transfer company?  We used to print numbers directly and now we do the transfers and it's about 4 times faster and the quality is better.  You can also buy vinyl transfers already cut so all you have to do is heat press them.

I just didn't want a stack of various numbers laying around... but 1000 in what a system like that costs would buy a lot of #'s ;) .. I guess I'll be calling Stahls ;)

and then in our free time start screwing around with making our own transfers...

Though limited to the few standard styles, die cut numbers, when bought in ten packs, are also significantly cheaper than cutting your own (plus no weeding time)

I have a system like that also and only used it once before I started ordering from stahls again.  You have to handle the frames too much and then it comes time to clean each and every frame.
It's not a job if you love doing it.

@Frog which die cut numbers are you referring to? Which company?  I currently buy rolls of vinyl and cut and weed but would like to do a price comparison.  I purchase the vinyl from Twill USA.

Stahls Thermo Film
8" numbers, packs of 10 - $3.75 (just went up a bit)

Now, I just checked out the pricing of the stuff you use, and though both rolls and die cuts are cheaper than what I get, you'll see a similar difference between the two.

We have the Vastex Digit, it's great for doing custom PMS matches and fonts but it sits idle most of the time. We just get the plastisol transfers from FM, it's quicker and easier and still get a good non plastic hand like you would with vinyl. Cutting and weeding numbers on any scale is a waste of time.
