We added a 4 head in November, and our second 4 head shows up today.  Man are things nuts in the embroidery part of the shop.  Shelly is amazing....flat out.

SWF again, another used 4 head.  SMOKIN' deal on it.  Even better deal than the other one.

I know where another one is, I may buy it too.  But I am running out of room lol.

Question on stitching.

How many layers of stitching can you go through. For example, lets say you have a background fill of a color, then you stitch in a small object over top that in the center of that large background area...and then you stitch in over top that, another item of lets say that included some detail images.  Does digitizing work that way or is is stitched out around each element?

Dan, I try to not stitch over a fill no more than one time, to much build up will start to break your needles, so to answer your question I try to butt my embroidery as I would a screen print layer.  Oh and for small areas to much thread in one spots tears holes in the garment and again cause your needles to break, I sure the other guys here can explain it better than I just did LOL.

Dan stitching more than one layer over a layer is not good practice, as Daryll said it cause major issues such as puckering and birds nests. A lazy digitizer may over lap excessively instead of taking the time to correctly but elements while understanding push and pull. Knowing what will push and what will pull will guide you in where to slightly over lap or reverse choke, fairly similar to screen printing art seps.

Small lettering is usually best done on difficult weaves such as pique on a filled back ground, it gives it a better flat surface to stitch on, but you have to be careful the chance for birds nesting may increase so using the correct density and underlay is important.

Brandt,

Nice work. I have thought about doing embroidery but I have a contract guy that does all of mine for much less than it would be to have it here. What is your percentages of embroidery to screen printing? I do about 90% screen printing right now.

We embroider basically every day, we only screen print 1-2 days a week in the winter, summer is more like 3-7 days a week.  Some weeks we dont screen print at all.  We always embroider.
