Starlight Ordered
« on: January 22, 2015, 12:52:59 PM »
OK, were  joining the bandwagon and ordered a Starlight.
I have read lots of good things so we are going to try.
I have to get used to burning 1 screen at a time since our current MH unit burns 2 at a time.

Doing one at a time will be so fast you will never even remember how you used to do it. Congratulations!

I wanted one so bad. But needed a press, new flash, exposure unit and dryer. So I went with the Vastex 47x31 until UV bulb. That will keep me burning pretty well!

Congrats on the purchase!

Unit in.
First, its crated like it can fall off a truck and not get damaged.
The only install was to put the stand together. The vacuum pump is a monster and heavy.
It doesn't take much to get going. We put a 180 with Chromablue 2/1 sharp side.
Set it for 7 seconds and done. Washout with powerwasher and perfect screen.
The vacuum drawdown was about 5 seconds. That large pump draws it down real fast.
We have a 3000watt MH and cant believe how fast this thing is.
We have the MH sold and thought maybe we should keep it. Glad its sold, cant see going back.
We will buy another unit instead of keeping the MH.
The computer is easy to use and understand.
This is 1 fantastic unit. This is the future, only now.
Good job M&R.

I wouldn't put that theory to test. ;)

I wouldn't either, but the point is they crate there products very well against damage.

We got ours last week, still dialing in times but very happy with it.

What do you guys use for emulsion that will hold up to printing waterbased/discharge inks?

I remember thinking MH was one of the best things I did in our shop.  Starlight was several factors above that.  CTS of course trumps them both but I wouldn't live without either at this point.

We started our CTS and Starlight install today. All I have to say is it's incredible how fast exposures are, especially with no draw down.
Hard part is going to be dialing in the times.
