Distressed Mockups on Color Background

I use a distressed overlay in CorelDRAW. I can Powerclip it into the shape of my design to eliminate the square or rectangle around it, but am still stuck with the "distress" being white rather than the color of my background.

How do I show a client a mockup to get an idea of how it will look on the shirt?

make it a black and white 1 color bitmap then color it with whatever color using the outline and not the fill.

"It" being the Powerclipped distressed object? When converted to a bimap, it becomes a white square.

Here's an example both as a jpg to see the obvious problem with the white distress, and a pdf that should be usable for those who want to play or demonstrate to this thick-skulled amphibian.

well that was a weird one for me.  I was not able to get it to change either,  but in the file below you have several distressed items which you can use the way i described.  i know it does not help with yours but maybe one of them will work.  just  have no fill and outline is the color.  will print out perfect.

In Corel:

Select distress bitmap
From Menu, select Effects>Transform/Invert
From Menu, select Bitmaps>Convert To Bitmap>
Select Balck & White for color mode
You should now have fill and outline colors. Select no fill and background color for outline.

I didn't try... but it is part of the entire process, you could have possibly "gone too far" to make that work.

I should have elaborated.  We throw the distress texture on the design and then use the minus back to remove the distressed parts out of the design.

And Gilly, We have the same commands in Corel, but I don't think that once the overlay is Powerclipped to the object shape, it can work.
I will, however fiddle with the overlay file itself similarly to what Sparkie had me do, to see if that permits the easy single action.
Otherwise, it's still pretty easy.

Just select the powerclip and either edit to go insode to edit the bitmap or select the power clip and then select - select powerclip objects.

Or use vector distressed patterns that yoy can simply just select and change color

In illy i just 'place' the distressed file over the image. the distressed file is in a tiff. then i can select the distressed  square and use the eyedropper and hit the background color and it turns the black in to the background color.

I forgot where i got the files from but i could always send them to you. I have 4 of them with varying degrees of distresssing

Also in Illy here, but we color the bitmap distress the same as the background, as mentioned earlier for Corel... I think .tifs make for more detailed distressed edges, tracing smooths them out to much, not as organic...

Yep, the tifs that whitewater sent me work very easily. Of course, once I was was taught how to deal with the ones I had, it wasn't too bad either.
I do like the variety.

In the past, most of these have been black on white or white on black, so mocks were not an issue.
