There's a lot of Aircooled history behind these.  It was cool to get asked to modernize such an iconic image. 

it's only iconic to Old Aircooled VW people though...but still. 

Oh..JCarroll and HotRod kristina really helped get the shirts online for my client.  Thanks for that.

I understand about the money. I've realized after 20 years of this that simple sells. Most people don't wanna be a billboard or glammed out like David Bowie's panties.
But I guess you have to know your audience.

People who like "David Bowies panties" pay 4 figures and higher.  I'm not upset about doing detailed work.  If you look at my portfolio you'll see a fairly wide range.

There's nothing wrong with doing big car show stuff, or nascar stuff.  I'm doing an SS design right now and these cats have deep pockets.  Make no mistake, I'm a commercial artist.  I can't apologize for getting paid. I buy food with my art money. 

May not be everyone's taste, but then again neither is the rudimentary.  The art pie is so huge there's room for all types.   I don't knock the basic (see my last instagram?) nor do I bag on the complicated.

It's all good to me.
