Pricing for printing on different blanks..
« on: October 30, 2014, 11:02:27 AM »
As example -

75 - 100%  cotton tees
75 - 50/50 blend sweatshirts

different inks on different garments, but art all the same across the board.
How do you guys process this type of print run?  Not looking for pricing so much
as how you would charge for the additional setup -  separate print runs completely, separate screens charges?

Thanks.

John

we would either charge an ink change fee, or just run them all with a low cure/poly white, and charge the whole run that way

assuming that you are using the same setup.

Same here... if you do the ink change, run the 50/50's first.  Then you don't have to be as careful changing the inks out as a little 50/50 ink in your cotton white won't be that much of an issue but a streak of cotton white could bleed and you don't want that.

I'd probably just run them all with my 50/50 white. Either way I'd price it as a run of 150.

We have one plastisol white for anything but 100% synthetics so it would be all good for us.  A press with central oc would make that more or less a breeze, just have to adjust pressure a bit perhaps and flash temps/times.

Now if it did require an ink change, such as going to 100% poly, we would do like Eric and charge color changes (on all colors, not just the UB b/c we don't mix low cure an reg cure in a run) and then a charge per loc for the Performance ink.

I do encourage my co-workers in the office here to break off a job to separate orders if it's not a super easy changeover from garment to garment.
