it's a small run.. 50 shirts.

would be nice to keep it at 2 screens, however, if the results would be that much better, I could go 3.

my thought is:

200 mesh underbase/halftones - gray  -- halftones maybe at 60% under the yellow sections?
230 mesh with the top gray.
230 mesh with the top yellow.

-or-

could I get away with a 200 for the gray, pfpf -- maybe halftones again under the yellow section?
and 1 yellow screen?

remember it's only 50 shirts.. going on standard gildan black shirts.  Price is there to support 3 screens, but it's more profitable if I run it a touch slower and not have to set up a 3rd screen.

I'd do 3 screens, but I like optimizing for the result, not the time it will take to print.  That's just me though.

Honestly, the reason for the 3 screens would be a nice clean fade, not the yellow.  You could adjust the fade for dot gain, p/f/p and hit the yellow last and not run into any pickup issues.  I would do maybe 50-65% under the yellow.  It really depends on how much gain you expect.  You don't want it to be visibly black anywhere under the yellow, you want it so the dots bleed together a bit.

in your case, fade the gray ubase so it can be hit twice (P/F/P/F) and then print higher opacity yellow on top. Keep the ubase 100% under yellow (it is not very opaque and the blending of the black with yellow will turn it green).

I would love to, but the client 'likes the look' of plastisol.  Might have to talk to him a bit more about that... because I agree... WAY easier if we discharged it.

Custy is cool with discharge!!!! whoo-hooo.

Plus is changing the art up a bit so the guitar neck only fades to a 25% or so halftone at the bottom.

2 screens, rock and roll!!!

Poor dryer will not be happy on monday...  Press Op will be happy tho...

He's going discharge it looks like.  I'd still suggest 3 screens for optimal fade, but 2 will work fine and you'll hammer em out.

Premium fade. I love it.
That whole line reads like rap lyrics.
