member of the year/quarter/month?
« on: August 04, 2014, 04:50:57 PM »
courtesy of Rich Hoffman (the M&R mail clerk guy that keeps giving the tours of the facility) and Richard Greaves we have a copy of "History of Screen Printing" book to give away. Rich was kind enough to give me a copy of the book for Richard who already has it. So I've decided to give the book away on the forum. This is a hard copy and retails for $100+.

Here's what I'm thinking. . . answer the post and suggest who should be placed on the list. We'll set up a poll with the names and who ever gets the most votes gets the book!

thoughts?

Yes, we've won our share of awards, and yes, I've tested stuff and read the scientific papers, but ultimately take everything I say with more than just a grain of salt! So if you are looking for trouble, just do as I say or even better, do something I said years ago!

Wait, are the owners eligible to win prizes?

Really......... You mean like a popularity contest? Why don't you have a silent auction that only the admins. can see and then the high bidder gets it and the proceeds go towards a charity of your choice... Like Me!......... or maybe something more worthy.

Yknow what else might be cool? We all ship it around to each other. Enjoy it awhile, send it to the next guy on the list.

I would also like to nominate myself to be LAST on the list.

:D
Thanks TSB gang!!

I nominate Alan so when he gets it I can drive 5 minutes and take a look as well :)

Plus he's been super helpful and generous to me, and I wouldnt be using S-mesh without his advocating it.

I figured that this would be a given, but should be addressed. "Someone" put the horse before the cart. (rib rib).
I feel and I'm sure all owners will feel that we could not participate. I even thought of suggesting someone myself, but as an owner, can't. Could look rigged.

I would cast my vote for Alan as well.

Not really a popularity contest, but I enjoy his posts very much. They are full of good solid information.

The guy from Murakami would also get my vote, but I assumed it would be for printers...
Alex

Hopefully I'll never have to grow up and get a real job...

Dave ( bimmridder ) seems to have help a lot on here, I know he has me ( thanks for that talk ). Alan always has great posts that have helped a lot on here, & binkspot always seems to get on & help people too. & there are some others I'm sure we could all mention (tp),.... but I wouldn't be surprised if all of them already have this book.;D

Oh & Colin always has very helpful posts too.

Alan - showing us all the super details on how to be better printers.
Dave - maybe the nicest guy here with knowledge.
Danny - Probably the best printer on this board from what I see.
Rich - bringing M&R to this board that often will give advice/help as well well as keeps the competition on their toes which helps us all indirectly.

I don't go back to the Song Dynasty or days of innovators like Michael Vasilantone (I believe I was born in the same year he invented the rotary press) but I have; like others here, have pretty much lived it. Some may be surprised that much of what is bantered about here on a daily basis were considered to be trade secrets not that long ago. I am both restricted and busy so cannot contribute much anymore.

I would nominate Alan.

We have Lon in the shop all week, and Alan's name came up around 5 different times just yesterday alone.
A wealth of knowledge, Alan is...
