Does spot fluid go bad?

"Mysterious" red ink showed up on some white shirts while they were printing... RED on them.  "How did that happen?!"

Anyway, they start spot gunning them out and I'm like "that smells like kerosene?!"  Anyone have that experience?

Seems like 2/3 of the gallon evaporates from mine before it's gone. Never had it go bad. Sure you didn't pick up a jug of kerosene?

I was told by a rep the other day that they had some spot remove that would evaporate quick even during shipping, and yes I think it does go bad I have some now that smells like kerosene.  Rep tried to sell me 4 gals, I told him if I needed that much at one time then I need to stop printing and get into a cleaning business.

Do you find that the kerosene smelling stuff has any down side?  Is it less potent?

I don't think it could go bad. Its just a chemical that evaporates fast. That is all you need. I have used just straight water in my gun while I was out and needed to blow out something. Another tip is to buy it in the 5 gallon containers. They are much better and they don't evaporate as quick as the one gallons.

I don't know about bad fluid (other than the evaporation mentioned), but I can tell you that I am seldom completely successful removing red from lights.

I have had a gun and 5 gallon can of Zim for over 10 years and it's still perfectly fine. No kerosene smell though.

Back when we rarely used the gun I never had any zim spray go bad but we did get a 55 gallon drum of zim spray fluid from a shop that went out of business and it sat unused for several years and when I pulled some fluid out of it to use one day it clogged up the gun.  Every moving part got gummed up and I remember it smelling more like kerosene than typical zim fluid.  I still can't believe that shop bought zim fluid by the barrel, I'm sure that was part of the reason why they went under.

Back when I was operating the press we would go 6 months without using a gallon of zim spray...I miss those days.  Now we use a gallon every 4-5 weeks.  I can't stand the sound of the gun going off and if I hear it for more than 5 seconds I go see what's going on.
