We've printed these polypropelene bags before, and they are quite a pain!

BUT! a very great client is insistant on using this type of bag, with a sliver imprint. Here is what i'm thinking, and I'm hoping you guys can tell me what would work best!

1. Silver plastisol with a Low cure additive
2. Silver Waterbased Ink
3. Silver ink screened Transfer
4. Virus Waterbased Foil Ink (Kevin from river city sent us a sample today, so that's an option).

I think the transfer won't work, and i'm afraid the waterbased ink won't be vibrent.

any suggestions i haven't thought of?

thanks!

Go with #1, ~ 230F in the dryer, but test and make sure that works with your equipment/set-up

Low cure ink with catalyst. My vote.

I can confirm the heat transfer will not work.  The bags will melt like a champ at a lower temp than it takes to adhere properly.

How many bags? It may be best to farm out. We use a nazdar ink that is similar to corplast inks. It is an air dry ink so no need to cure. Because these do not have to go through a washing machine I am not as concerned with adhesion.

yeah, I try not to touch those things, but I do get some contractors that bring them in...my print price is more than they pay printed from most suppliers.

I go with option 1, or I use catalyst, but I prefer low-cure additive.

Not really well because the shimmer/ metallics inks take more heat or longer times in the chamber since they reflect.

I just quoted on 3,000 tote bags.....The difference in cost between printed and plain was 250.20 total.....So my supplier www.aAdbag.com is printing these for 0.0834 each.....

And just delivered 600 of these.....My net cost was 0.87 with a 1 colour 1 side imprint...http://www.adbag.com/UI/NON-WOVEN%20BAGS-Grocery%20Bags-Y2K%20Grocery%20Bags%20with%20Inserts.aspx?ptype=3&mcid=69&pcid=69&ccid=74&pid=124

That is a bodek product. This should not be too hard. If you need enough they will work on price with you. A good hi sheen solvent ink will work. I have done several thousand this way. We use a clear base from nazdar and mix our pigment powder in when we are ready to print. It is air dry so a super fast run through the dry gels top enough for stacking. Complete drying will happen in transit.

Cost wise you could purchase from a "specialized" supplier at a much lower cost that includes printing....T-shirt suppliers are "insanely" expensive for misc. items.....tote bags, towels, bandannas, caps, etc....

Sometimes I forget you folks are "printers" versus folks who just want to make the most money they can....
