whats your standard dryer temp?
« on: June 11, 2014, 01:48:26 PM »
We have two dryers in house over here, a Sprint International, and a new to us mini sprint.

Typically we run our sprint international between 305 and 335 depending on the application.

When the tech from GSG was here installing our mini sprint he said he'd never seen a shop run a dryer that low before, and had set up the mini sprint for 400 degrees!

So what is the typical temp you keep your dryer at? i know it'll vary from shop to shop, and dryer to dryer, but 400 seems so high!

Depends on the ink. We have settings but I don't give them out as I never trust the digital readouts. Its about retention time anyway. Depends on how long the dryer is. One is an Interchange

Mu old dryer sets by panel temp, so my 1100 is really high, number-wise.

Where are they reading  the 400 on these dryers? Or is just a relative reading for an average garment and ink layer? (similar to a non-contact gun)
That rug really tied the room together, did it not?

I have an Interchange AirJet and we run just about everything at 350-355 with belt
speed 15-17 feet per minute. Of course lower temps for poly and puff. I have to
slow the belt speed for puff also.

I have a mini sprint with an 8 ft chamber.  I run mine at 400 to 410 with a belt speed of 15 or 16.  If there is no white printed, I will speed it up to 17 or 18 at the same temp
It's not a job if you love doing it.

Our old precision I keep around 400-410, bump panels 500-600. 45 seconds to a min for plastisol, 1:30-1:45 water base, 10' chamber. 380 and 45 seconds for poly a little quicker for nylon.

We run our Heatwave between 325-340 depending on ink type at 60 secs through the tunnel, and slow the belt down a bit for WB and discharge prints.  I've heard of running the belt quicker at a higher temp but didn't realize so many people were doing it.  Is this standard in the industry, or are there negative effects that can come along with it?  I'd be very happy to hear I could increase my dryer capacity with a few minor adjustments.

It may be time to get a donut.
