If you have not had it service in awhile I would do a full service sooner than later.
I have a horror story about one of these. I had an older one like that one for a long time, we wanted to get a new one so we didn't have it serviced when we should have ( key point ). Well the pressure release valve had got stuck or stopped working, so I heard noise coming from the compressor room one morning & I go to check it out, I open the door & this is the scary part.....( like an old Tom&Jerry cartoon ) bolts & nuts are shooting off it, the piston housing is off & I can see the pistons slamming up & down. I have to run in & shut off the main power, a bolt shoots off & smacks me in the head leaving a nice goose egg as I shut the thing off. The piston housing was 1" thick & had busted clean off, some of the bolts holding the cover still attached.
!! DO NOT LET YOU'RE COMPRESSOR GO UNSERVICED !!
