The simple things
« on: April 21, 2014, 10:12:15 PM »
Not sure if it drives anyone else crazy when people call ink paint- "what color paint are you gonna put on that shirt".  It is a pet peeve of mine. SO you can imagine how delighted I was this evening when I got home and my 2.5ish year old son said "daddy you got INK on you hand". :D

Hopefully I'll never have to grow up and get a real job...

Same here, but my particular one is using DPI for everything, even the big guys doing the teaching, but most know what they mean. Images in Photoshop and scanned images are expressed in Pixels per inch, PPI, halftones are expressed as Lines per inch, LPI, and Laserprinters, inkjet printers, and imagesetters use Dots per inch, DPI.

Steve

ps. we'll leave out Spots per inch...

Do not forget picas per inch (6 if anyone cares) or silkscreen vs. screenprint

I liken the mistake of people saying cardboard boxes instead of corrugated or cement instead of concrete.

I started screening in '72, and have never used a piece of silk, nor seen one in anyone's shop, so I always correct that one too.

Finely ground pigments no doubt...

I called it "paint" one time when I worked in a screen print shop and the glare I got from the printer was enough to remind me never to say "paint" again! When I read this thread it reminded me of that glare!
