Diamondback S (Servo Drive) Print speed
« on: March 25, 2014, 09:44:04 AM »
We are considering purchasing a 2nd press (Diamondback S) and were wanting to find out what some of the real world numbers are (dz/hr).  Our current machine is a Sportsman E 10 color.

You should look at M&R's classifieds, they have my barely used Sportsman in there since we replaced it with a CHIIID.

I believe the max it can do is 840/hr.  Real world I would say 600-700/hr is pretty standard.

That being said we have run our diamondback R faster than it's rated but it's not a daily speed.  Typically we run it at 75% of what it's rated or so.

we have the S and the absolute fastest we have ever run it was 780/hr. that was full bore, maxing the dryer out, really fast strokes. probably could have been a little faster if it was a shorter stroke, but not much. by no means do we run it that fast every day. i feel like that would really put some wear on the machine.

I will tell you what we tell our regional managers. If the buyer is a first time auto purchaser sell him a Diamondback and they will love it. Sell a buyer who has a Sportsman a Diamondback and they will hate it. This applies to electric Sportsman presses. If it all air Sportsman it wont matter and D.B. it wont matter. Just a FYI.

At one time we had a diamondback R series as our first auto.  Gotta say that I was extremely happy with it coming from a manual and that thing could crank out some shirts believe me.  Then we installed a Sportsman E with ac heads and servo drive.  We got to where were hardly printing with the diamondback any longer unless we were maxed out on the sportsman.  Although the diamondback is a nice press.  I'm sure I'd feel the same way about the sportsman if we ever printed with a Challenger.
It's not a job if you love doing it.

We loved our sportsman almost bought a diamondback instead but glad we did what we did.  Of course now we have a ch111d....the sportsman seems like a toy.  But still a great press.

That is how they are designed. The selling price as it increases adds more user friendly features as well as image size

I have the first Diamondback S and a 14 color CH3D sitting right next to each other, and I print with both everyday.  I love my 3D and wouldn't trade it for ANYTHING, BUT....I also love my Diamondback.  Rich talked me into keeping it and he couldn't have been more right.  You are gonna run average on darks at about 50 doz. hr. on the DB.  Its an awesome press and I have ran almost every kind of M&R press ever made.  That's the thing about M&R presses, THEY DO NOT MAKE JUNK AT ANY PRICE LEVEL!
