Weather Delays- Snow days- Etc.
« on: January 06, 2014, 07:49:44 AM »
Well for the first time in over 30 years the weather has kept me from going to work. 16 inches of snow, 8 below, 30 MPH winds and the city parking their plows has combined to keep my butt home.

As long as the internet connection holds up I will survive, I guess   ;D

How's the weather in your neighborhood.  Respect this cold, it is a killer!

Rich, how is the team at M&R doing, the Weather Channel makes it sound like Chicago is closed, but Indiana is close behind!

-22 but -47 with the wind chill, and that's just currently I think it v is supposed to get worse. All the schools in the state are closed, plus countless other things. But on a positive note not really any snow in the forecast.
I'm getting ready to head in, if only I could find my shorts....:P

11 this morning with a high around 30.  That is cold for South Mississippi.  I can not imagine being in -22.  You all keep warm.

It's cold here, the 20's for us is cold, but it's supposed to get down to about 5 tonight.  Luckily the rain cleared out in time last night that none of it froze.

18 on the way to work, 16 now. Expected 3 this afternoon and -4 over night.
This is unusually cold even for us (Cleveland). Normal temps would be in the high 30's.

Snow all over the place and starting again. Roads are a sheet of ice, literally. Normally when it's dry and cold they manage to melt everything, but not this time. My car (with all wheel drive) was all over the road to the point I though I had a flat tire.

Yes, we've won our share of awards, and yes, I've tested stuff and read the scientific papers, but ultimately take everything I say with more than just a grain of salt! So if you are looking for trouble, just do as I say or even better, do something I said years ago!

Yup, Cleveland sucked this morning.
Luckily, no issues with "flat tires". They are forecasting -8 tonight with a wind chills up to -40

Kids are out of school today and tomorrow by me.

I am going to derail this thread but I am curious.  Is it better to have 4 wheel drive in the snow or 2 wheel drive?  Never really driven in snow and was just wondering.

Was in 4wd last night to pick up my kids, it makes life a lot easier. BUT one main rule you can drive faster but stopping is the same as a 2wd.

-12 for the high today here. Wind chill is minus 40. Also have 20 inches up here by the IL/WI border. Dogs don't even want to go out in this. At least the high tomorrow will be a balmy zero!

Anyone who orders film today will get special freezing pricing. Might not ship for a few days tho due to cold
