Corel X4 Outline Settings

What do you guys use for an outline setting? No matter what I do the ends of the outlines on points come out squared off. I attached a pdf so you can see what I am talking about. You have to zoom in to see it at the points on the bottom of the letters. Thanks guys.

...open the outline dialog properties box.
    -Corners=square (top one), flat cap end (top one).
    -miter limit =0.0

...you can also use the contour command for this.

I used to have that problem though haven't had it in done time but I went to using contour if there was issues. I think if you open the outline settings, there should be 3 settings, one being rounded, so try one of the other 2 and if that works you will have to set it as the default

Yeah it almost seems like the other choices still have the blunt edge, strange maybe I am missing something, I will have more time to mess with it tomorrow, thanks guys.

Andy is correct what you are looking for can only be done with a low miter  pointed outline. A suggestion is make your miter limit 0 degrees as default. instead of the default 45 degree.

Though Contour does seem to be the "outline" of choice with many Corelians,
this one can get solved with an Outline by knocking down the default 45 degree Miter Limit to its minimum. (You just can't go to "0")

Perfect!!!! Thanks guys! I never knew what the miter thing was lol. And I've never used contour, ill play around with that as well. Im just trying to spread my top color over an underbase.

Very rarely is there a case I would want the high miter limit that Corel defaults to. Once in a blue moon you get a corner that is so sharp and if you apply an outline even a thin one you may get a spike many inches long. In those cases you are better off raising the miter limit if the outline is thin. If it requires a heavy outline then use contour instead, either way those nasty corners usually require some manual editing to make look right.

You can have the same problem even without contour.  Always handy to know about the miters.  Just select a star from basic shapes and drop on the canvas.  Bet it has the corners cut off.

I even had to make a text file note in my Corel Notes (called points are not pointy) because each time it happens, I forgot from the last time, lol.
