I needed a laugh. Heck of a salesman here.

30x40 vac and a 5k lamp at auction, this excerpt gave me more than a chuckle.

We had an appraiser & consigneer come and give us their price on this equipment. Replacement costs or new would run around $20,000 - $30,000 or more depending on the newer technology. But since this is not new but in good working condition and no abused, he would sell at his resale company around $10.500 to $13,000.

The whole shebang is here:  http://www.ebay.com/itm/Douthitt-Screen-Vacuum-Frame-OLIX-Light-Intergrator-OLIX-OLEC-JUST-Normlicht-/200936440693?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ec8bec375

10.50 to 13,000 seems like a pretty huge range.  Remember--it's "no abused", (but they're using it as a table.)    ;D

I am constantly amazed when I shop at places like Amazon which also often show other places to buy the same item, and have seen prices on certain things range from $29 to $400! I guess they are looking for that ocassional sale that makes up for the dozens of sales they didn't make.
 Kinda' like the old joke:

Want to buy an apple?
How much?
$47
$47? Are you crazy? I bet you don't sell too many at $47!
Heck, at $47, I don't need to sell too many. :)

Sometimes a discontinued item will shoot up in price just because of the reduced availability. (if anyone will pay it or not)

I bought my Epson WF 1100 for about $90 when it was about to be discontinued about 2 years ago. Started using it this January and was impressed and looked for another. I saw it in a few places for over $400. I like mine for the performance for the price. For three or four times as much though, I'll step up to a better model thank you.

The stuff in that listing, however is not really in demand to warrant the price. Obviously, someone is either painfully out of touch, or just hoping to sell a $47 apple.

That rug really tied the room together, did it not?
