Silicone ink on jacket problem
« on: February 20, 2013, 11:28:51 AM »
I'm having a problem with some 100% poly jackets , the print looks very good with the silicone ink ( white on red fine design) but
heres whats freaking me the design can be scratched off if you work at it a bit, I tried one with Wilflex polymax it worked but wasn't near as bright , it also seemed more durable.
The jacket doesn't mention  water repellant coating , but mentions a water repelling finish?

Any help would be appreciated

we have not seen that so far so I am guessing it will have to do with the jacket.

It is probably not worth the risk. While the poly is not as bright, your customer will probably be happy with it.

Have you contacted the manufacturer? That was something between Dow and Nazdar wasn't it?

just talked to supplier , they mentioned it may take an additional 24hr to cure But I have a sample from 3 days ago that is the same. Have used it on other fabrics from this manufacturer ( under armour) )with no problems
Will have to call customer ugh.

Check to see if jacket has been treated with water repellant

if it is, a simple rub with 91% rubbing alcohol will solve it.  Most fabrics like that are inherently water resistant, the extra coating just helps with the beading...same thing umbrellas

But point out that water repellent abilities have been diminished. After all, they may have chosen that particular jacket for that quality.

...or, they opt for the less bright alternative and keep the water repellent ability at the same level. Should be their choice.
