You sure about the MZX's or do you think M3's might serve you better?  Just asking because I personally think M3's are a better option for automatic printing.

I know of a pocket listing of a very low number 8/10 diamonback with heatwave dryer and mzx's...will be ready soon...

very low miles on it..like under 50k prints...

Alan802.......Not sure exactly I guess, I know we have a few MZX. I believe they have to be the MZX b/c we put them in the dip tank, submerging them. What is the difference between the two??

I know you didn't direct the question to me, but: M3's are the blue larger-in-diameter/beefier screen frames.  You can ratchet your mesh tension up a lot higher (like 70-80+ newtons if you wanted) before bowing would happen, whereas bowing starts around 35-45 on the mzx's.  Having said that, if you use the proper mesh for the mzx's (like s mesh) that doesn't require super high tension, you'd be better off with the mzx's -- they're lighter to carry around/handle and they're cheaper.

We had M3's but upon switching to the s mesh and getting 60 mzx's in a recent purchase, we sold the M3's, as they were superfluous for us to retain with mesh that maxes out (in recommended tension) around 35 newtons. 

So the long and the short of it is, what type of mesh do you plan on using, which will dictate the tension you'll be needing, which should then dictate which frames are most appropriate.  Alan knows tons about mesh, so I'm sure he'll chime in.

Brian hit the nail on the head.  I should have prefaced that earlier but he described it perfectly.  The thinner thread mesh works great on the mzx frames because they don't require high tension levels.  I've heard the mzx will begin to bow around 30 newtons but I think Brian is right when he says 35-40 newtons.  There aren't any of the S threads that can go up to 40 newtons so if you decided to use all Murakami Smartmesh with the thinner threads then mzx's will be a great fit.  The M3's are the most versatile because you can run S thread mesh at 25 newtons all the way up to newman roller mesh at 65 newtons. 

Your skill/knowledge level should tell us which mesh/frame would be the best fit for you.  I prefer the thin thread, S from Murakami for lot's of stuff, ink shears better from the thinner threads because the % open area of the mesh is bigger compared to the thicker/standard thread.  We also have newman roller mesh in stock for other applications where we are shooting for a thicker ink deposit.  The drawback of the S thread mesh is it's very delicate and if your shop isn't good at handling screens with caution, they might not be a good fit.

Let us know what type of printing you do, like big bold block lettering for athletics and schools, some corporate wear or are you doing higher end retail and process type jobs?  Is it a little bit of everything like our shop?  Is this your first auto?  What's your background, how long have you been in the industry and your expertise level?

All the mesh manufacturers sell mesh in typically 3 different thread thicknesses.  There is thin, medium and thick so picking the right one for your shop depends on what you're trying to achieve.

 WOW you guys are AWESOME!!!!............having said that, personally my expertise isnt so high however I am not the printer in our company. My family bought our business 6 yrs ago and I began my adventure here with screen printing. I am not going to lie, my heart was never really in it, so I never learned everything I should have. Although I certainly do know alot more then the average person. Just to give you my background........

 In regards to printing, we pretty much do everything from small orders (our minimum is 12) to a few hundered. We have done as many as 8,000 for the local hospital but def not the norm. We do most of the schools and churches, local business and such. 

 We have a early 90's model 12&10 Zelko that was bought at a show by the previous owner about 12 years ago, but the thing is a damn trooper. We dont really do alot of all over prints or crazy designs although my printers DO know how to do the glitter, flock, etc. Our printer who runs our Zelko has been a screen printer for about 20 years, so he does know his stuff.

 Another question for all you great people on this site, I am wondering what everyone thinks will be the next big thing in our industry? I know its a vague question, so all answers are helpful.

 What is the "S" stand for? how much do the Murakami's cost? I believe we get our mesh from shurlock.
