I think I've decided to buy one to replace my old trusty 3000. There's rebates on both models, but the designer edition is $500 more. What's the difference? The only thing I'll be doing with it is outputting films.....that's it. Can I get some help please?

Also, It was between a 4880 and this. The 4880, naturally, would be used and around here, there's none to be had for less than 800-1200.....and I can get a brand new 4900 for $1400....sooooo I'd just like to make sure I'm going down the right path. If it makes a difference, I'm using Filmaker v3.0.

Thanks in advance....

Check to make sure your rip will work with it.  I don't think filmmaker supports the 4900, but it does support the 4800 and 4880

I checked before typing. It DOES in fact support the 4900...well at least according to them.

that must have been added recently.  When I was looking a couple months back it wasn't on there.

Check to see the number of inks required. Then go to somebody like filmdirectonline for refillable carts.

Should save money in long run.

I know I have on my 4800 with them.
