Epson ink allergy?

  Anyone ever heard of this? A collegue at one of our other locations just got a 3000
and is having respiratory problems from the Epson inkjet ink. Of course we will be
installing a long cable and moving it to another adjecent room, but does anybody know
of a hypoallergenic ink or heard of anyone else ever having this problem?

I've heard it all now.

the lint from shirts is WAY worse than the ink I would imagine.

  I would think that too but they don't print apparel at that location.

yuck. 3k is an old printer, I wonder if theres something else in the machine?

or a bad ink lot.

I don't think it's the ink, let's think about the amount of ink that gets laid down per print.  it's just not feasible that that little ink could gas out so much to give somebody an allergic reaction.  If that was the case, you would hear about this a lot more.

Look at the MSDS of the ink and that will tell you really quickly what's in there.

I just found this forum and joined, so I could respond to your post.

I'm a greeting card artist and use an Epson Workforce 600 to print my cards. For the past couple years I have been noticing side affects (headache, burning throat, burning eyes, tingling nose) and am convinced I'm allergic to these inks. When I don't print for a couple weeks, symptoms subside -- so it's been a process of elimination. I keep my windows open and I assure you I am not intentionally huffing the inks. Epson's MSDS sheet was of little help -- they use the term "proprietary" to avoid listing specific chemicals.

I'm in the process of deciding what to do, as I realize this is a serious issue which is not going away. There is not a lot of info on the internet re: inkjet ink allergies/hazards. Most of the info seems to be in regards to laser inks/powders.
