If you print from PS and know how to manipulate file to get the Bitmap files, then no (But it would be suggested just because of the control od the ink density)If you are printing from Illy, and you do not want to manually separate, you would need the RIP (I do not know if 1400 is post script printer)I have Epson 1100 and I do not have rip. I have printed few CMYK and a bunch of halftone jobs with no issues.

Still struggling with this printer. I downloaded the driver from Epson and installed it but when I go to do seps. the only option it gives me is the (Composite) selection and not the separation option. What am I missing? Thanks
