Anyone know anything about water filtration?

My daughter is in one of our rental properties and they have well water.

It has a lot of iron in the ground out there so it's real rusty looking, smelling and I'm sure tasting.

We are looking for a whole house solution and wondered if any of you guys had any suggestions.

The Culligan Man can take care of that.  When I was a kid on a farm in Ohio we had a water softener that was filled with some sort of salt pellets. This took much of the smell and iron out. Then it went through a carbon filter before it got sent to the hot water heater and then the rest of the house. I believe cullingan installs these and maintains them if you don't want to refill the salt pellets and change the filter yourself. I think this is the only way to draw the iron out but I could be mistaken.

We have a water softener system out there that we just had rebuilt (by just, I mean like a week ago).  Still getting nasty bits through.

Pipes could be stained but if that is the case like I told the little one, it will eventually go away if that is what is happening.  But I'm not sure that is really what is going on.

I'll have to look into it more, maybe get samples before and after the softener to see how much good it's doing.

Funny thing is that I grew up about a mile (as the crow flies) from that house and our well water was AWESOME!  They must have dug that well into the wrong water table.

Reverse osmosis system they are pricey but take everything out. There is an electronic one also pricey the salt filter works OK and it is the cheapest also put a charcoal filter inline it will remove most smells
