How to remove the pallet bracket tape off M&R/Action Platens?

Hi all,

I have come into ownership of quite a few Action engineering pallets with M&R brackets and I now need to remove those brackets and put on some bracket adapters for our Antec Legend manual.  I tried using putty knives, and the stupid time I used a flathead screwdriver and a rubber mallet caused the aluminum platen to warp a bit. 

Any suggestions on getting the brackets off?  That bracket tape is a pain!  I'd like to preserve those brackets for possible future use.

And some of my existing Action Eng. Antec Legend aluminum pallets have bracket adapters were put on off center by action, so I'd like to remove those and reattach in the correct spot, as well.

Heat. Grab a torch, goes easy so they don't warp.

I have found if you use a thick screwdriver or small wedge starting in a corner. Drive it in a little then slowly pry the bracket up. You will feel it coming loose, don't force it, just need to be patient.

Hi Darren: I'm sorry to hear there was an issue with the Antec plate location. We would pay to have those sent back here for correction. Getting the plates off is easy. Use long 1/4-20 screws on each corner and as you turn the screws it will jack up the plate. Getting the brackets off an M&R is more of a challenge. Clamp the pallet onto a table to minimize warping. Use a couple of stout flat head screw drivers and a 3 foot crow bar to work it up slowly without deforming it.

Thanks to all for the suggestions!  I'll add goof off during the removal process to try and soften the tape as I go.

Using the method that Action1 provided helped get the brackets off....a light smoothing of the metal from the screw thread dig and new tape and it should be good.

Anyone have any good recommendations for bracket tape at a good price?  Looks like I need to remove/reset about 10 brackets and install 6 new brackets (all at about 11" each), so needing about 200" of tape.   I'll be resetting some of the brackets to make sure they are all in the same distance/location so that we can document exact platen location (based upon bracket) for consistent setup and resets for reorders.  I'm going to be bringing on some more help this summer and they will be in charge of setups.
