One of the things that should not be lost in this discussion about water based glue - is the fact that you can scrub your platens clean of all lint build up. This gives you a very smooth surface and is more beneficial than most realize if you are printing on a lot of Ring Spun garments or Tri-Blends/super soft fashion garments.
Just spraying more glue on top of the lint definitely increases production throughput, but you end up with that bumpy/textured platen surface. If you are printing standard 6.1oz T's its not that big a deal. With the thinner fabrics, you can see that texture in your prints.
As a side note, I used a water based glue sprayer back in the early 2000's. It worked well, but like others have said, lots of overspray. Personally, I would only use it for fleece.
