printing wilflex yellow shimmer
« on: July 03, 2018, 12:13:57 PM »
Hi I'm having a heck of a time printing yellow shimmer over a white base , not much shimmer is coming through a 93 mesh, I'm about to try an 80 mesh ( my lowest) but to me the shimmer seems to be separating from the curable reducer base.

Any tips would be appreciated

When looking at  their offerings I only see available Gold Shimmer and Yellow Sparkle.
Could it be that you actually have the yellow sparkle? which is a large flake glitter-type product that requires a much coarser mesh (25-40)

The "metallics" go up progressively in particle size, with their Liquid Gold and Silver passing through mesh as fine as 230, to the shimmers which recommend 86-110, to glitters with a mesh range of 25-38, and the sparkle, which is pretty much limited to 25

Your going to need a 25 mesh count, did some with a  silver glitter a few months back, and my advice to you is to buy a new 25 mesh frame, mesh and all.  I thought I was being smart buy ordering just the mesh and trying to use my roller frames man what a pain trying to get that thick mesh locked in.

And be prepared to be reminded of running glitters and sparkles for weeks and weeks.  :o

And don?t try and coat that 25 like you normally do.

Do a 1x1 coat, let it dry then do a face coat. The mesh is so open that most thin emulsions won?t even bridge as the emulsion sags and falls out of the screen making quite the mess.
