Distance of Print Below Collar
« on: February 22, 2018, 04:21:13 PM »
Not quite worthy of a poll, but when giving, or when being given a position measurement "below the collar", is it from the opening, or the ribbed collar itself?
That rug really tied the room together, did it not?

the majority I do are just past the end of a typical gildan label , so i don't have to mess around getting it out of the way so 1.5" down from seam

Change wording to "below collar seam"

For example "top of image 3" below collar seam".  works on either front or back.

Kinda' my point.  I say (and use the)  "opening" Greg says (and uses the) "seam" We probably adjust for that inch or so difference.
My problem is those folks who expect us to read their minds. Folks like the LAPD who require their cadets to have a T and a Crew sweat with their names 2" tall, and 6" below the collar!
btw, over the years,  my clients have never had a problem with my position.

What if you are printing a girls shirt with a collar that's 1/4" tall and then a mens Beefy with the 1" tall neck wringer?

We use the seam and go from there.

DUE TO CIRCUMSTANCES COMPLETELY WITHIN MY CONTROL YOU SHOULD GET YOUR OWN TEE SHIRT AND A SHARPIE MARKER BY NOON TOMORROW OR SIMPLY CALL SOMEONE WHO GIVES A SHIRT.

Always from opening (lining up with marks on the board, remember I started "pre-laser).  I always cheat 1/2" for the slightly lower collar and smaller size of standard crew ladies. Deep scoops and V's I have to determine the equivalent position, or, often, jam the image up as high as it will go!

I've also measured from the seem. I've had to clarify with my employee between top of "collar" and "seam." Example: Line the art up 4 inches down from the top of the pallet, and then put the collar at the edge of the pallet, so the art is 3" down from the seam.

We use the seam. Transfers over to sleeves as well. Always say “7cm down from the collar seam” or “2cm up from the left wrist seam” on a long sleeve for example.

I prefer the top of the collar, we have shirts with a rib from 1/2-1 inch.     Also when we position the shirt on the board we either mark the board or use a lazer, I think it’s easier to position on the edge of the collar and not on the seam.

Seam, we position the seam just off the pallet so we don't have the collar on the pallet.

We use the seam for reference as a rule, but any point of reference is fine as long as us and the customer are using the same point. We are around 3" down on a crewneck, but it really depends on the design, some things just need to be "eyeballed"...
