cut fabric shapes heat pressed?
« on: June 02, 2017, 02:34:28 PM »
A women's line i do all of the printing for wants to move into "appliqué"
I guess thats it.  A lot of what they are seeing in the market is the fabric cut into a shape...lets say Texas and then attached to the shirt.  I asked if it was stitched on the shirt, and they said there was a simulated stitch but that you couldn't see it on the inside of the shirt.  Anyone know how these are getting made?
Is there some kind of heat press glue sheet?

Stahls sells an 11.8" wide roll of Cad Cut Adhesive and virtually the same stuff 28" wide called Thermo Adhesive.
It's used for applique and foil

They are cut by a laser....The heat of the laser sears the edges so they do not fray...

how are people going about this?  Do the vinyl cutters cut shapes out of fabric also?
does the thermo adhesive have to be cut in the exact shape also?

I once did embossing, I got rolls of film that was actually glue from Germany.
I sold some to a embroiderer who stuck it to material in heat a press and then cut shapes with a pneumatic press.    He then pressed them onto a garment, same idea for patches.

found a company who will laminate the rolls of fabric with an adhesive and then laser cut the shapes.  I plan to heat press the shapes along with a "simulated stitch" onto the shirt.
