Best Flash for manual
« on: June 05, 2017, 10:32:20 AM »
Looking to purchase a new flash for our manual.  Would like something with temp control because we do a lot of performance wear.  Forced air would be nice as well.  Do people like the flashes with the foot pedal that rotate for a specified amount of time.  Been printing for 8 years but always just had a standard flash with no frills.  I'd like to get something keeps me from waiting on the flash.  I have 208 3 phase in my shop.  Should I go with a name brand or have one done by intek or someone.  Thanks for your opinions here.

When we had a manual, the M&R Acoma was the best one for us.  Forced air, IR, foot pedal like you mentioned etc.  Best thing to do was press the foot pedal just as you are moving the platens.  This should turn the Acoma to line up over the platen just before it is there and make it get an even enough flash, since the rotation is slower and it would delay getting one edge, then turn off of the edge when the timer is over.

I bought it used, sold it for 85% of what I paid a couple years or so later.

Auto rotate is nice to have. I think the best option would be a quartz flash if you don't mind spending more money.

Check out the M&R Serrano. We use it on our manual. Instead of rotating it slides out like a drawer over the pallet and returns after a specified amount of time. Its a pretty sweet flash. I think you can also sync it with an auto using a cable, but I feel like the IR panel might not be quick enough for a fast moving press. Works perfect for us, and we have not burned a pallet since we have had it. That to me is worth it alone.
