Bumping back up

After decent success with 4c process discharge over the years using Sericol their has never been a need to change, but recently after some research, reading this thread I  realize there may be other options. I have had some great conversations with Dave at ATLAS screen supply. They are a distributor for the virus inks. He is sending samples ( 2 quarts each) of the process colors and a gallon of white for testing. The interesting part of all this is Virus prefers to do the process seps as they claim they perform better with their inks. That makes sense they developed the inks and know exactly how there separations will perform with the inks. They do the first set N/C and then its 45.00 per design after. They are doing their best to ensure success using the process colors. They request a template to use the same exact registration marks , mesh and any other info we use in house so nothing changes in pre press. We have 15 designs to sample next week and I will post my feedback after the first 2 (that's all we submitted for separations  until I see the result) if anyone is interested.

I like this.  And while I love the concept, I think you all are brave running DC 4CP, sounds like recipe for heartache unless your blanks are dyed to spec.   We do DC UB + Union process plastisol for this type of work here, hand is still very soft and far more consistent.

the Virus is straight up waterbase cmyk with a base and highlight white printed 1 and 2 then flashed.   I do agree with you with the dc cmyk. That's why I'm trying this? We have to be consistant and IBG is offering any of the designs on any of the 16 colors of comfort colors (reactive dye). I know I can do it and have sampled several with a soft dc base with the sericols  but im hoping for a better result trying there seps with the inks.

I see, so is it like an HSA or trad WB ink?  Base - flash - white - flash - Y - M - C - K ?

Exactly but I'm not sure about the whites chemistry. The way it was explained is their process of grinding the pigments super fine allows for the ink to be extremely opaque to eliminate the need for ZFS. It apparently flashes decent.  we'll see!!

I have been looking at these inks also, but haven't pulled the trigger since i'm a small shop.

Will be following this with a lot of interest.

I assume that only the base is WB DC
The rest are WB without DC.
Is this correct?
