I just ordered a gallon of CCI U-Base, and some activator.

I am interested in trying to use this for dark garments with plastisol on top.  I generally print with a 156 or 230 underbase using 230-305 for colors with a flash after the base, and 1 flash somewhere in the colors as needed and the rest wet on wet.

Can anyone offer a few simple tips on printing like this? 80-90% of what I print is Gildan 2000 100% Cotton tees with sim process ranging from 4-6 colors.

Will I need to wear a respirator while printing and will a standard 3M mask with organic vapor filters work well?

I'm running a Workhorse Sabre auto with 1 flashback and 1 quartz flash.

Thanks!

Vent your shop very good as well. If you can do this you shouldn't need to where a mask.

We run CCI DC UB with plastisol on top on a regular basis.  Also on a Sabre.  We do a quick flash, then plastisol WOW on top.  Use your Quartz flash.
If you have a properly vented dryer, you shouldn't have to wear a respirator.  Open up your shop bays (if you have them) and run some fans for extra ventilation.

Great, I'm excited to give this a shot and surprised I've never tried it before.  My shop is a metal building with 1 bay and a 36" exhaust fan, but the dryer is not vented, however that will probably be done before I try out the discharge, but it sounds like it shouldn't be too hard.  I've got a 20' dryer with recirculating fans so hopefully all will go well.

It smells but I’ve never seen anyone where a mask to print, the suggested mask would be suitable if they wanted to wear one. The mesh is correct, Add 4-5 % D-Powder. mix enough for 8 hrs max, print and flash once or twice until it just starts to discharge then print other colors. Fully cure through a dryer. Will need to put less ink down than normal when printing colors, so would suggest the finer end of his mesh range suggestion

you need to add some discharge white to the clear base.

print through the same mesh you use now and see what happens.

Yes, we've won our share of awards, and yes, I've tested stuff and read the scientific papers, but ultimately take everything I say with more than just a grain of salt! So if you are looking for trouble, just do as I say or even better, do something I said years ago!
