Differences on the I-Image STE
« on: February 12, 2016, 02:53:26 PM »
Someone could tell me the differences between ST, STE I, II, III.
Not prices, in terms of speed, production.
I know for the ST I will need a exposure unit, probably a Starlight to cut time on the exposure.
Doing around 80 screens per day right now.
Thanks.

Dan, thanks for the reply...... I'm still missing this though -

In photoshop we design art in which photoshop sees percentages(not dots)...... then the rip takes control and produces the dots....... When you look at the pics I posted you will clearly see some dots are more rough then others. My point is if the rip is doing it's job correctly the dots should appear to be the same correct? Why some dots look worse then other dots is not a product of photoshop but a direct product of the algorithm in which the rip processes the file. To me the rip should produce a perfect looking dot, now whether the output device(dts in this case) can produce that perfect dot is a whole separate discussion but the rip should process the file in a manner that it prepares dots that are consistent. Hopefully what I'm asking is easy to follow LOL

ST is just an imaging device
STE images and exposes quick emulsions
STE I images and exposes all emulsions with a starlight type panel
STE II is a combo of STE and STE I (we produced this unit before the STE I, currently the STE I will suit everyone's needs in the same way this did before)

Just want to throw in my 2 cents. My shop just got an STE I-image II. That machine has been one of our best investments. We have saved so much on film. We where using OYO Tech styler and had great looking images but was sometimes spending 1,000 a week on film alone. Now with the speed and efficiency of the I-Image we have cut screen cost from about 16 dollars a screen to around 57 cents to 1.00 a screen.

Also we do all water based printing with diazo emulsion. It lowered our cure time from 200 LTU down to 45 led expose time ;D This machine really is incredible. But if you are going to get one try to spring for the 2 head at least. The single head is nice but for a couple thousand extra you can really increase you screen burning capability. If you have any questions feel free to DM me and I can talk more about it.

We do almost all WB/DC on our unit. What emulsion are you using? We max out 30 seconds on our back bay!
