CCI WB Base retarder built in?

So I have been advised to add softener and retarder to CCI WB inks when mixing them.  I have been getting 0 issues with this and provides me nice times with little dry in when printing.

I had a CCI rep in last week and he claims that it is not needed as those are already in the bases of CCI inks.  Has anyone experimented printing out of the bucket compared to adding the additives to see if there are any performance issues or noticeable differences?

We have always added softener,  retarder and penetrant to cci base +pigment inks.

We have always added retarder, but now you have me thinking.... Usually a salesperson would try to up sell you on buying extra modifyers, and CCI seels them so that makes me all the more interested.

CCI has a "account" here and have popped in before, let's hope they do here!

You don't need to add anything. They also say you can add up to 30% pigment with out adding any additional binder. I add water just to thin it out and help with coating all the fibers. I used to add a few things but stopped and have seen no difference. I do base down the D-white that stuff is too thick.

It would definitely save a lot of money to NOT add softener and retarder.  I will have to run the next few jobs without those additives and see for myself if i notice any difference.

what ratio are you using for basing down the white?

no additives here. straight out of the bucket D-White and Pure White from CCI.

wet the screen before adding waterbased or DC inks if you are having drying issues.
