Hep! I need to fix this misprint
« on: December 04, 2015, 03:57:54 PM »
I just printed 40 hoodies up that I need to deliver in the AM.

That letter is an A. I'm missing the little line that closes it up. Suggestions of how I can fix this? I can't deliver them like this, and I can't show up empty handed.

How are you with a toothpick or needle as a touch-up tool??

I also wear reading glasses while doing this type of thing

shoot a screen with a better a and print one by one wiping between every shirt , with white on black it should be easy to print , and since its so skinny you'll probably get away with one hit

I have used a paint brush before... Just cut the brush part down to about a 1/8 of an inch. This way the bristles are hard and make moving, painting the ink easy. It also makes it easier to get a sharp edge. If you were doing a long line, I use a business card as a guide and shield. It takes some time but if done right no one would know. You may have to send it down the dryer and come back and try to fix it again. Take your time.  I have done about everything to fix mistakes since I hired a printer.

I would cut some vinyl as a template/mask....... lay it over the area then put the ink down, pull the mask up and your done....... Kinda like how people use stencils to paint shapes/designs, etc on walls(if that makes sense)

if it is a straight line, use a clean up card cut to the width you need and dip it in ink then press it on the shirt maybe?

In that vein, how about my eraser guard already re-purposed for spot removing?

Masking tape.  Clean up card cut in half.  Boom.

I like the way you think King!

Yeah, its just a skinny straight line, I was going to put some tape on a screen and line it up in place but this idea seems easiest. The tape won't pull at the ink, will it?

Just the dryer will be fine? Or should I heat press it after too to make sure it's in there?

I would use the original screen, clean, as a line up guide to get the offending letter in place on the press (we are talking a manual press, right?), then a second screen with just the one shape to print in black, registered of course, and just print it...

I made a mistake once; I thought I was wrong about something; I wasn't

Yeah I've done this second screen before - but like Frog's approach, I find the back of an exacto knife blade will be very quick and precise.  Reading glasses too.
