Gotta finally jump in
« on: December 09, 2015, 01:24:40 AM »
So, I've been lurking this board for about a year, yeah I know should have jumped on in, watching to see what kind of REAL help is being given. Gotta say this is the best source of information that is industry driven I have ever seen on the inter web. We won a bunch of awards in the mid '80's for 4CP on nylon, schooled by the screen police, bought on of 244's first 100 challenger presses and set it up in Atl. Moved on to a bunch of contract work in the '90's down in FL, with multiple Gauntlet/Revolvers, and now I'm in a start up with a manual 6/4. Back in the garage again. I look forward to making new connections as well as re-conecting with some old industry friends
Seen a lot of changes in this industry over the last thirty years, some better than others.

Welcome Local!
Interesting that you're not alone in bucking the trend and getting back to basics. Something about not being able to get it out of your system, right? (I hope that's not the case with me, LOL!)
That rug really tied the room together, did it not?

Thank you Frog, you are a stellar amphibian on this board. Dirk, no longer in the ATL. Monkey, what can I say. Sold the business in Atl early 90's, went to work for a specialty chemical firm in the industry, dealing in screen reclaim. Probably called on some of the old timers on the board in the SE. Did that for 4 years, then decided to get back into shoveling ink and shirt at a press, but after 15 years my entrepreneurial spirit just burnt the fu*k out. Tired of being the banker, alarm clock, taxi, bail bondsman, etc. to my employees and the business. Sold the business, the house, the wife, the dog, kidding no wife, and moved back to B'ham,AL mid 2000's. Worked for a couple of shops here in town, told them I had "some" experience in the industry. I was approached last year about helping start up a shop and here I am.
