Can't get sidewinder pallet arms level
« on: September 25, 2015, 03:28:25 AM »
Got a used sidewinder. Spent hours on it but i can't get the pallet arms level! It's seriously making me crazy and the thing has been gathering dust for weeks because of it.

Here is a video of the problem. You can see that both sides need to come up in order for the arm to be level, or at least close to it. I don't know if I have a bunch of bent arms or what. Or maybe this crap doesn't need to be level like on an auto. But it makes sense that you want the center shaft to be plumb. So you walk the pallet arm to the four corners of the press.

Any thoughts on this? Here's a video:

More then likely the arms are bent a little. Don't shoot for zero bubble but the bubble to be at the same place over each foot. You can also put a washer under the one end of the level to compensate for the bend. If you move the level all the way back where the arm is attached to the plate I think you will get a different reading, closer to zero. I would also back off the pallet locator so the arms are not bouncing over it shaking the level.

Rich was nice enough to point me in the right direction over the phone and I got the center shaft plumb! The trick was to watch the Kruzer leveling video on the M&R youtube page. Super helpful!

I know we all say it over and over, but Rich and the M&R staff are amazing! I sleep easier at night knowing they have all our backs!
