TOO sticky...
« on: October 20, 2015, 04:23:49 AM »
Can't sleep, 'cause a 1000 things are bouncing around my head. Shirtboards being waaaay too tacky is only one of them, but I sent out a little  2 color plastosol job a few hours ago, that was pretty steenking distorted. (And no, I dont YANK them off carelessly.)

I use CCI Top Bond mixed half and half with water painted on with a 3" disposable foam paint brush. I do it whenever Simple Green (lemon scent--don't care for the smell of "original") and a firm de-fuzzing won't do the job. Wilflex Quick White was "lifting" a little yesterday, so out comes the ketchup bottle and foam brush.

The last few re-applications have resulted in a couple dozen prints that looked like they were designed by the inventor of the original "Fun House Mirror". I dont remember having this big of a problem with manual printing, but 4 platens isn't the same as 10. And yesterday was painfully "warped"...using my Gauntlet.

So I surmise I've missed some trick for reducing initial OVER tackiness. One would think in 7 years I would have ironed this out before now.

Thanks in advance,
Slow Learner Stanley

Try sprinkling some baby powder on the plattens. Little goes a long way.

Slipping on a sweatshirt should cut down the stickum's aggressiveness. It sure does when one is trying to stick 'em down.
That rug really tied the room together, did it not?

Thanks guys! Two votes for baby powder. Too bad, all we have on hand is GRANDbaby powder.  ;)

I do use talc between films and screens when sticking is a problem...usually when my vacuum table is already hot, or the weather is humid.

So, the powder can be REMOVED also. Like fuzz. Whodathunkit!

And Mike, where did you get that first brush? I use a scotch brite floor scrubber thingy, but it has some drawbacks. The brush solution interests me. There is a custodial supply place here in town, if I knew what to ask for.

And @ Frog, I never thought about trying fleece either. DUH... And I know hoodie fuzz can be removed at the end when I use The Moosey Method. When using web spray, not so much...

Hey Stan, it is just a floor scrub brush some are the kind you can screw a handle onto other just plain back breakers . They are also called deck scrub brushes but those tend to be bigger. Sent you a PM with some specifics.
