D2 ink for I-image ST users....
« on: February 26, 2015, 08:19:58 AM »
Who that started with K has switched?  I here that by May all users should be converted to D2.  I have heard that you can't just switch without doing some other things to your machine and I have heard of some doing just that?

Whatever they started us with is what we've been continuing to replace it with.

There is a purge procedure you need to follow to switch the ink, but nothing else will change.
If you gave had your machine for over 6 mo I would recommend also doing the 6 mo maintenance at this time. This requires the switching of the disc filters that go to the head. I think they are $6 a piece.

We switched about two months ago, and saw immediate improvement

The Ink is dye based if i'm not mistaken. We saw our prints be darker, thus expose a bit better. It may have been a climate issue though, but once we swapped out that ink, all of our issues of light prints, or liney prints went away.

We haven't noticed thin or lines in our prints and we honestly are probably using our ST in the worst environment.  Out in the shop, it gets real cold and hot out there.  Doesn't have its own room nothing.
