not impossible at all...  the dicey part MAY be getting your registration back perfectly without a z-bar or experience.

that being said...

I purchased the Javelin we were printing on until about a month at scrap price, and rebuilt the press pretty much from the ground up.  The critical part is the PLC as well as the Central Shaft/Bearings...

If you can, only remove the arms that don't have registration forks on them... (or maybe you'll be lucky and the registration forks will be bolted to the center of the machine, and then you don't have to do anything with registration).

If it's an early Gauntlet with the reg bearings attached to the pallet arms and you remove a pallet arm reg will need to be checked/set. Print head should not be a problem. Forks should be attached to the main part of the press, easy part to set if disturbed.

Just in general any time a press is moved it chould be at least leveled and checked even if nothing is dismantled.

I JUST BARELY have enough room to move the press onto my print floor, with only the platens removed.

I measure 112" from platen arm tip across to the opposite platen arm tip with the boards removed. I have about 117.5" wide door on my print floor.

So a careful forklift guru SHOULD be able to get me in the door with a fully assembled carousel. A printhead or two might need to come off, but that is pretty easy to re-install. Correct?

Print heads you should be fine. Take the time to mark the wires and air lines before removing, save you a lot of headaches. I would still at least level the machine, pallets and screen holders after it is moved.

Make sure the battery is good in the PLC before unplugging.

Battery.

Yes, it is 4 years old. I don't know how long they last....

It was changed at installation 4 years ago and I don't have one here.  I'll bet I can get one in before the move. Thanks for the info!

Now I have to figure out how to move this press...

We finally shook hands on a number. I guess I own a blue auto! Now the real work begins.

I have to completely reorganize my print floor.  If I didn't have so much JUNK accumulated over the years, it'd sure be a lot easier.  Where does all that stuff come from anyhow?!?!

Congratulations Stan..... and good luck on the move-in. If you can't get a battery soon I have an extra one at my shop. Let me know if you need it and I can have the girls ship it to you. I should be home from MASS this coming Tuesday eve and back at the shop on Wed.

Well, its all moved, plumbed in and I guess I'm ready to learn how to run it.

It is a 93 model Gauntlet Revolver GT-8.

I can turn it on. That's about it!

Anybody got a PDF operators manual? The previous owner is local and willing to assist me. I just wanted to read up on it first.

(And I hear a little air hiss that wasn't there when I watched it in production.)
