Gas Dryer Flame Rods
« on: April 09, 2014, 11:24:59 AM »
So... I've heard "pitting" is when you know you are not staying on top of sanding down your flame rods.  I just sanded mine yesterday -- here are some of the before pics.  Everything just looks like it has a thin layer of black soot on it (and some dryed up anti-seize paste in the threads) -- I don't see or feel any pitting on the rods though.  How bad is this pitting supposed to be -- should I feel bumps with my finger?  How do these flamerods look?  I am sanding these about once every 4-6 months.  After sanding they are smooth and silver/gray (but before the sanding they feel smooth -- just don't look silver/gray).
