Subjective question about size:)
« on: March 19, 2014, 04:51:52 PM »
Is it just me or " how do these shirts run" seem like a totally subjective question? Dunno is it just me that thinks this is a pointless question? I never answer it right. I am 6'2" 250 lbs everything runs small to me.

my feeling and standard response is based on how they 'feel' compared to a typical gildan ultra or hanes beefy-t.

we've had several customers who have complained about the bella/canvas and next level t's being too tight for the 'same size'... so if somebody asks for the more fitted styles of shirts, we generally warn them that they feel like they run small.

I use mostly shirts that I feel are, "true to size" (another subjective term), but still suggest a visit to the specs page in the catalog or, if they are coming in, they can try one on.

I have even lent out a sampler pack for schools and similar groups taking orders.
That rug really tied the room together, did it not?

We have 2 "sample packs" consisting of youth XS- XL and adult S-3XL, a Tultex T and a women's Gildan M. The youth shirts are the Gildan 5000 the adults the 2000. All the shirts have our logo on them so it is not so bad if they "walk off". Schools, teams, or groups that seem like they are going to need help get to "check out" one of our sample packs.

It has been working out nice. It has really cut down on the "Sally got the wrong size" calls/emails.

Hopefully I'll never have to grow up and get a real job...

There is no industry standard for sizes. The best thing is send them the specs.

Some do run small, know which ones, some customers can be dense.
It's our industry, make sure, you can loose sales.
Yes, have sizes for them to see/try. All major suppliers have sizing charts too.
Samples for them to take good, with your logo TCT -  genius!

Funny thing I ordered samples for this group and it's a ton stuff cotton hoodies performance hoodie t-shirts moisture wicking tees long and short sleeve, warm ups pants shorts . I ask if they tried on the samples and they were like oh I didn't know we could try them on... Email the specs to them and they were like I don't know what it means, I will be dropping samples off again tomorrow. Tis the season lol

Interesting story. I had to testify in court on this very subject. I was grilled on how this varies from manufacturer and why there was no standard. Also irritated the prosecution when I stated that it also depends on fashion trends.
