Small squeegees on bigger auto holders?
« on: May 28, 2014, 12:43:04 PM »
I use 16 inch squeegees on 14 inch wide plattens on my auto. I also have 16 inch wide plattens. Sometimes i do have a slight platten edge on the finished shirt from the over hang. I have adjusted pressure, used a steam machine... Do you think if i used 13 inch squeegees with no over hang that the blade would still be firm enough at the ends to print good? I have extra blades but just wanted to  see what other people thought. I have air heads and use 50 psi on the regulator. I would like to just center the blades in the holder. I have never had anyone complain about the marks and of course some shirts are worse than others.

That's easy, you might get a squeegee edge no matter what if your pressure is to high but should go away , but a platten edge no if you go to a smaller squeegee and your prints should be fine.  I use 14 wide squeegees on my press every day and have no problem from edge to edge printing, like you said center your squeegee and you should be good to go.

yes you'll be fine.

You can custom cut squeegee blade to fit into large holders for special print sizes.

Like say printing over a zipper, you can cut chunk out of the middle or even put a 4" blade in a 16" holder to print over/on the pocket kind of stuff.

As for the pallet line, always use a blade smaller than the pallet so you don't get those lines.
