Simple word processing question, Delete blank page?
« on: May 16, 2013, 11:50:03 AM »
Years ago, I learned the ins and outs of Word and its related office programs, but now, I seldom "process words", and don't even have Word on my current machine.
Use it or lose it, and like so much computer stuff that I don't use regularly, I have forgotten some basic stuff.
I do have Open Office, and it opens up my docs pretty well, but how do I get rid of a blank extra page?

Frog...if it's a second page in word you go to the page and put in your cursor and start backspacing or deleting until you get back to the original (first page)...does that make sense?
If it's so easy, you do it.

Yep, but I think that when I tried that in open office, the cursor merely made the trip to the bottom of the first page.

I may try it on my other box which has Woerd Perfect on it, or maybe I can even find an old machine with Word. (though I can't believe that this isn't a somewhat universal action in most Word-compatible programs)

try going to the last character on the first page and delete everything after it.

or

email me the document and I'll take a look (have open office too).

Yes, we've won our share of awards, and yes, I've tested stuff and read the scientific papers, but ultimately take everything I say with more than just a grain of salt! So if you are looking for trouble, just do as I say or even better, do something I said years ago!
