epson r1800

Picking up a R1800 tomorrow for 60 bucks if the guy can prove it works. I currently use a 1400 that's screwed up which is dye based and the r1800 is pigment based. Which is best for non waterproof film? Since I'm going to be using carts with reset chips, and black ink only can I use dye based ink , will it screw it up?

I run the Stuff 4 Printers 13x100 Roll of windsor film and JetBlack dye based carts with Accurip on my 1800

Going to ink refills after this set of carts runs out.

Ok I ask because I still have a quart of bulk black ink or the 1400 I bought from inksupply.com it's dye based , stuff works better than epson ink on my films. Bought the printer today, such a great deal 60 bucks for a 900.00 printer, freakin nuts! So I should be fine using the same ink in the new refil carts I'm ordering I assume?

Wow I just checked out that site. $90 a gallon, thats cheap! How is the opacity?

$60 should be worth it just for parts.  I sold an r1800 a couple month ago along with a rip for $250. 

Damn thing was in perfect condition too, only used it for a month yet it sat in my office for 3 years collecting dust.

I have an 1800 that has been running 4 years now. The only time I have problems is when I try to use refillable cartridges, sometimes the ink will drain out of the cart. But they are great printers.
