MX vs. Epic Rio Mixing systems by Wilflex?

Hi guys and gals.
I'm looking into the MX and Rio mixing systems that Wilflex offers. We currently do all mixing by eye with no official mixing system.
Rio is the newer system that's supposed to be more Opaque with a lower cure temp. Does anybody have experience with both of these systems? Has anyone switched from MX to Rio? is there a noticeable difference in the finished print etc...

Cannot speak from experience on MX or Rio, but Rio has gotten a lot of good reviews here. This much I can say from experience: nearly  ANY mixing system will make your life easier than mixing by eye! (And you'll waste a lot less ink.)

We use Rutland M3, pleased with matches; also have Wilflex PC, but have found that it is not good for very small batches - it requires too much precision. I'd like to give Rio a try, but have yet to get around to it.

This why Rio Rocks super easy and predictable to mix, unless you are doing a lot of specialty inks no reason I can see to have a pigment system.

 Cost would be the only consideration.

I think that the major deciding factor justifying a pigment system over an RFU, would be the quantity mixed. Pigments fit better in a larger shop with larger minimums.

I was using the MX by Wilflex till about 8 years, I changed to M3 rutland and get really good match the first go around. Not so with Wilflex MX, and I was a wilflex user for over 20 years. (PC&MX)

I've been happy with M3 color matching, too. Primary reason I consider switching is Wilflex provides all necessary CPSIA compliance docs & testing results, Rutland does not. In a small shop, being able to use one ink system for everything would be nice. And now the low cure factor is big, too. But it is hard to switch when you're already getting good matches!

Hi Gang, I appreciate all the feedback on the Rio mixing system. You all seem to favor the idea of a mixing system which is great. I agree with most of you that a pigment based system may be too sophisticated for us as we aren't using a lot of different bases and probably mixing more in quarts than gallons (Thanks for you input Frog and T-shirt Farmer).

BP and Prince Art, I appreciate your info on the M3 system but I haven't used a lot of Rutland inks and probably don't want to switch my whole shop over at this point. But thank you for the info.

Quuarts aren't so bad. Years ago, I claimed the niche of screen printing jobs "too small to mess with" for most shops, and would sometimes mix less than a cup! Those days are pretty much behind me now, 35 years and I finally wised up, LOL!
